We have all heard of Rogaine – it is one of the most well-known hair restoration medications on the planet. The key ingredient in Rogaine is minoxidil, a heavily-researched drug that has been in use for over two decades.
Rogaine has FDA-approval as a treatment to regrow hair, and in testing, Rogaine regrew hair in 90 percent of men when used consistently twice daily. Dr. Heil offers some of the best results in Rogaine Pittsburgh has available.
Rogaine works by reviving and increasing the size of hair follicles, while extending the natural growth cycle. For men who are seeing the signs of hereditary hair loss, the problem is associated with a progressive shrinking of the hair follicles, which first produce finer, weaker hairs, and then stop producing at all. For Rogaine to work, it should be started in the early stages of hair loss.
Rogaine penetrates the scalp and works to trigger inactive hair follicles to once again begin producing healthy hairs. Hairs naturally move through a certain cycle of growth, shedding, and going dormant. Rogaine increases the length of the active growth phase by bypassing this natural cycle.
You may be genetically programmed to go bald at some point in your life, whether early or later – the majority of men are. Our Rogaine in Pennsylvania treatment should be started at once if you see the early signs of thinning hair.
The most common symptoms that indicate you are starting to lose your hair include:
While it is normal to shed hair every day, when male pattern baldness is advancing, the shedding goes beyond the usual. It typically starts with a receding hairline, followed by thinning hair on the crown of your head. To halt this process, Rogaine could be part of the solution.
Rogaine has proven to be one of the most popular and effective methods to halt the progression of male pattern baldness.
The benefits include:
Every man is different in physiology. Choosing the right treatment for hair restoration is important – you want it to work for you. At the Center for Hair Restoration, we offer state-of-the-art hair restoration treatments. For some men, starting early with Rogaine is advised.
Only a private consultation will reveal the treatment that is right for you. We offer a wide range of cutting-edge hair restoration techniques, including the ARTAS robotic hair restoration system for men who are balding.
Unfortunately, once an area of the scalp is bald, topical treatments are unable to restore the follicle – but ARTAS can and produces a truly natural look. What is right for you? Meet with us so we can guide you to the most effective treatment for hair loss available today.
Minoxidil (Rogaine®) is an FDA approved medication used to treat hair loss. This medication may prevent further hair loss, but can only partially reverse balding. Minoxidil is available in 2% and 5% topical solutions and is to be applied to the scalp twice daily. Cosmetically acceptable hair growth is seen in about one third of cases. When beginning minoxidil, a temporary effluvium (or shedding) may occur within the first 2 - 8 weeks. Minor side effects such as scalp itching, dandruff and redness may occur. Foam formulations without propylene glycol cause fewer side effects. Maximal response to minoxidil is seen in the first six months of treatment. Regression of results occurs after 3 months of stopping minoxidil. Minoxidil must be used continually to maintain a response.
